Durango EXIT Realty Office Partners with Durango School District
Food Drive Was A Well Received By Durango Community
Durango, Colorado (Grassroots Newswire) 6-4-2018 -- In gratitude for the support shown to EXIT Realty Home & Ranch by the local community, the real estate brokerage recently partnered with Durango 9-R School District to make sure that no child in Durango goes hungry.
The 1st summer food drive, held on June 3rd at Albertsons and City Market, to stock the food pantry was a great success and the community support was overwhelming. With the funding for Mana Soup Kitchen's backpack program getting cut, something needed to be done. Throughout the school year, there are a number of families who struggle to provide the funds necessary for their children to eat breakfast or lunch while at school, and for some children, those are the only meals they receive. In fact, 1 out of 3 children are on the free and reduced lunch program. During the summer, with the schools being closed, many of these children don't have an option and will often go hungry.
This is why EXIT Realty is taking a portion of every closing and donating it to the Pantry Program as well as to assist with the meal programs at the school, to ensure that no child goes hungry. Volunteers from EXIT Realty Home & Ranch, Durango 9-R, Fairway Independent Mortgage, and American General Media collected an entire bus load of donations from the supportive members of the community. All donations collected will be used to stock the Pantry, which will open on June 11th, at the Durango High School.

We believe that no child should have to worry about where their next meal is going to come from.
