Stayner, Ontario (Grassroots Newswire) March 23, 2017 -- Small business owners from Clearview are being invited to a crash course in business continuity planning at the Clearview Administration Centre on Thurs., March 30 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

"When disaster strikes, we need to be able to continue to operate our businesses." said Tamara Culham, broker at EXIT Realty Welcome Home, and an organizer of the event, "If it's a fire, a flood, a tornado or some other calamity we can have plans in place to protect our business income, our client relationships, employees and family livelihoods."

Business continuity planning became a focus for many municipalities after an F3 tornado travelled through the commercial centre of Goderich in August 2011. The economic impacts on the community were significant and the community rallied to get local businesses back into operation.

Rob Heffernan, Training and Promotion Coordinator for Emergency Management in Simcoe County will be the guest speaker. He will talk about tools and strategies that businesses can put in place now to prepare for the worst-case scenario.

The Crash Course for Business Continuity Planning is hosted by the Clearview Women in Business networking group and supported by community sponsors including Stayner Chamber of Commerce, Stayner Lions Club, EXIT Realty Welcome Home, The Mortgage Centre, Guaranteed Services, Titan Electrical Contractors, Garbutt Construciton DKI and ARC Home Inspections.
