Local REALTOR® Dedicated to Professional Education

Ulster County, New York

Highland, NY (Grassroots Newswire) 9/8/2009 -- Barbara Korabel, broker-owner of EXIT to Green REALTY, knows first-hand the value of real estate education courses. In just three years, Barbara has attained eight professional designations, ranging from ECOBROKER to Home Staging Professional. And as chair of the Education Committee of the Ulster County Board of REALTORS® (UCBR), she is on a mission to bring that same opportunity to REALTORS® throughout Ulster County.

"This year, for the first time, every member of UCBR can take courses for their Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation as part of their membership dues," Barbara said. Courses leading to other designations, along with "hot topics" are also available."In the past, REALTORS had to pay thousands of dollars and travel to different counties, and even go out of state, to get this training. Now, it is all available right here in Ulster County," she added.

Barbara became interested in education as a new agent. "I wondered how I was ever going to learn everything I needed to know," she said. She began by taking online courses and within a year, had 6 designations. "I noticed that the more I knew, the easier it was to work with customers and other brokers."

Education is a win-win for REALTORS® and consumers. "Better informed REALTORS® provide better service for their clients," Barbara said. "Real estate transactions are complex and the rules are always changing, so it is important to have a broker who is up-to-date on the latest developments."

Barbara takes a personal interest in all of the courses offered by UCBR, auditing classes to make sure the instructors are first rate. "All of the courses I monitored had fantastic instructors, who provided useful real-life examples," she said.

The GRI program includes 90 hours of coursework on topic including the sales process, legal and regulatory issues, technology and professional standards. "Our goal is to have 60 new accredited GRIs by next year," Barbara said. "And that will mean 60 more REALTORS® with the tools to provide superior service to home buyers and sellers in Ulster County."
