CHANGING TRENDS

New Market Trends Tabled by Market Concerns in Real Estate

Carlisle, PA (Grassroots Newswire) July 30, 2010 -- The planning for a Green Housing Development has been temporarily tabled due to lack of Investors. The financial and real estate woes make Investors slow to commit on an innovative green housing project proposed for downtown Carlisle, Pa. The importance of building GREEN is on the rise. This project will be a Carlisle first in changing the trend.

“Bedford Mews,” is a plan that calls for 20 townhouses to be built between the Rite Aid Pharmacy and Letort Elementary School. This project is envisioned to take advantage of potential solar energy, a shared heating and ventilation system, and “permeable pavers,” a self-draining system that filters water before it enters the ground. The water being filtered first contributes to a cleaner “Molly Grub,” which is a tributary that leads to the Letort Spring Run.

Barbara Woods, a GREEN Designee real estate agent and Franchise Owner of EXIT REALTY GROUP in Mechanicsburg, was brought in on the project. Referring to herself as “A Natural Born Tree Hugger,” Woods was excited and proud to have been included in on the planning and development stages. She mentions that the location is prime, since it is in walking/biking distance to downtown Carlisle. Just minutes from the Court House, shopping, and entertainment.

The future of our “built” environment must center on energy efficiency, water reduction, systems that encourage cleaner indoor air, the use of recycled and more sustainable developed materials, and communities that coexist w/ their environments. “Bedford Mews does just that,” says Woods. “Our job now is to find the investors to move this project forward. We must be Trend Setters, not just trendy. In these economic times, consumers need options for cheaper utilities, a safer & healthier environment, along with affordable housing.”

The U.S. Green Building Council’s nationally recognized LEED green building certification program provides third-party review and certification of buildings’ design, construction, and performance in five key areas of environmental and health concern, including energy efficiency, water efficiency, materials and resources use, sustainable site development and indoor air quality. They contribute to a vibrant industry that could drive an economic recovery.

GREEN is our GOAL!
