Stop the Bleed

Foreclosing on Homes, not just Houses, submitted by Barbara Woods

Mechanicsburg, PA (Grassroots Newswire) August 13, 2010 -- Another 300,000 homes are slated for foreclosure, We have to put a stop, or at least a delay on this insanity. I' m really troubled by all of the foreclosures. I am showing many of these properties. They are badly kept, vandalized and mold ridden. I see abandoned kids' toys, clothing and all kinds of personal belongings left behind. Where did these families go? How did they find housing with bad credit? There has to be a better solution. Well, I have an idea…………compromise!

The foreclosing lender has to grant the owner an extended stay (under certain conditions of course). There needs to be a visual inspection done first, to verify that the home is in good condition. In exchange, the home owner signs an agreement with the lender to pay taxes and insurance, pay for utilities, keep the house and property maintained , allow the property to listed and to be shown .In exchange, the lender will allow the owner to remain in the house until it is sold. Upon the sale of the property, the home owner will be given $2,500 for their transition to another home. The lender will have the property marketed for sale.

The property will still be sold. The owner will still have to move. This just gives time for the owner to get back on their feet, pack their things, and find suitable housing. It gives the lender a personal TLC representative, so the property is cared for instead of sitting empty, enduring the weather and neglect. These foreclosures are not caused by bad people who don’t want to pay their bills. Many of my clients were caught by bad times, changing jobs or health problems causing unforeseen debt and bad financial advice.

It is a WIN-WIN situation for both sides! No one loses, and it shows how we, as Americans, are humane and take care of all people. I hope someone can direct this idea to someone somewhere that can help make a difference!
