EXIT Realty Foothills Reports on New Housing Stats

National New Housing Jumps 14.6% in January

La Verne , Ca (Grassroots Newswire) 2/17/2011 --

According to Reuters New, the national new housing starts in January reached their highest rate in four months. The increase was more than expected by the Commerce Department analysis reports. More than 596,000 units were started in January. Most of the inventory came from a 77.7% jump in multi-family housing starts, were single-family home construction actually fell 1%.

While the new housing starts increased, the new home completions actually fell to a record low of 512,000 units, 9.5% from December, in January. Housing permits for future housing projects also dropped in January.
