Local Realtor takes EXIT to the other side of the globe!

Shapleigh, ME (Grassroots Newswire) April 11, 2011 --EXIT Key Real Estate Broker-Owner, Elias Thomas, of Acton, recently returned from leading a group of Rotarians, members of Rotaract and Friends of Rotary to India for the purpose of participating in two projects. "There are three parts to each of our trips," commented Thomas. The primary reason for the trip is to participate in Rotary International's only corporate project - the Eradication of Polio - in a National Immunization Day (NID). One Sunday each month, volunteers from throughout India join together, particularly with Rotarians from around the world, to immunize all children under the age of five years. "This past February, we immunized somewhere in the range of 70-100 million children, and all in one day!"

Thomas' agency, EXIT Key Real Estate, one of the newest franchisees in the EXIT family, chose to support this project by sponsoring the official shirts for the ROTARY DREAM TEAM - INDIA 2011. Team members, which numbered more than sixty-five from seven countries, all wore the shirts for the NID on February 27. " EXIT has really gone international," Thomas said. "The EXIT name is now in India, Australia, France, England, Iceland, Canada and the United States!"

The other two facets of the two week trip included having the team members serve as common laborers in the construction of a catch dam for a water harvesting project in the remote Muslim village of Chahalka, located about two hours from New Delhi. The final part of the trip included visiting some of the world's most spectacular attractions, including the Taj Mahal and Amber Fort in the Pink City of Jaipur, as well as navigating through the canals Cochin and Kuramakom, in the southernmost part of India.

Thomas and the rest of the team members all pay for their flights, lodging and food, but the great reward is in knowing they have truly made a positive difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate.
