Mechanics, PA (Grassroots Newswire) June 22, 2011 --On June 21, 2011 she headed out to Valley Green, PA to join up with “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” for a volunteer build. Equipped with a hardhat and boots, she got on the worker bus and headed to the site.

There were women and men, young and old, doing whatever they could to help build a new home for Brian. Barb collected trash to keep the area uncluttered. She raked and hauled stone, carried and unloaded roof sheathing, removed plywood pieces and cut lumber from site, and cleared weeds and trimmed branches to make room for equipment. Barb even wheeled the wheelbarrow full of ice and drinks to the workers to keep them hydrated. Even when she is doing man work, she is still a mother!

At the end of the long long day, Barb hung her hardhat up. Her t-shirt was encased in sweat, muddy from head to toe, and her body tired and sore all over.
