Mural Captures Past, Gives Back To Community
Portland, TN (Grassroots Newswire) July 30, 2020 -- You rise by lifting others is one of Derrick Miller’s favorite quotes and perfectly captures the spirit behind the mural the franchise owner recently had painted at his EXIT Realty Garden Gate Portland location after buying the building.
“There has been so much strife these past few months with the pandemic and I wanted to give back to my community and maybe make some people smile,” Derrick said. “This mural includes the old train depot which was a big part of Portland as well as the old water tower which is now gone. It preserves history while adding a bright spot to the landscape.”

After seeing the Chamber of Commerce’s new mural, Derrick collaborated with USA Pro Art and he made sure artist Manuel included his social media handle so people could tag them as well, @EXIT_Realty_Garden_Gate.
“The first day it was done, we posted a photo which went viral with over 12,000 hits from across the state. Although the water tower is now gone, we captured that image and added the EXIT Realty Garden Gate logo on it. I really love the way it has turned out and it is so fun seeing people snap pics in front of it.”
