Mississippi Town sees Booming Economic Growth
Madison, MS (Grassroots Newswire) February 7, 2022 -- It's a good time to relocate to Mississippi - The state that once came with not the greatest reputation and is often perceived as a state with a declining population has seen a dramatic shift and uptick in economic growth. In the wake of Covid with folks realizing they can live anywhere, the south has certainly earned its title of being one of the fastest growing regions, Mississippi is no exception.
The Magnolia State has certainly been getting a fresh look with the removal of their previous flag and replacing it with a more welcoming version, along with certain restrictive laws continue to be lifted. The state was chosen by distribution giants Amazon, Walmart and UPS to invest multi millions of dollars into state-of-the-art distribution centers. In addition, the metropolitan city of Jackson is preparing to build a 125-million-dollar tech center and investment funds are being distributed to accommodate Madison County's massive shift in growth. The state is seeing a lot of outside hedge fund money investing in Mississippi communities along with the movie industry finding the business climate and the historical architecture around the state perfect for many of their films.
Madison county, rated one of the most livable cities, also awarded as a certified retirement community, and the county which is growing at rapid speed just landed Mississippi's third Amazon fulfillment center in the state. In fact, Madison County's facility in Canton is a state-of-the-art fulfillment center. The state is already seeing a surge in tax dollars from this investment alone.
Besides seeing a booming economic spike in growth and wonderful quality of life, Madison boasts some of the best schools not only in the state but in the entire nation. Madison Station Elementary has earned two prestigious Blue-Ribbon awards which are only awarded to 325 schools all over the country. The state also offers some of the best options for Universities with reference to athletics and education from the University of Mississippi - Ole Miss, in gorgeous Oxford (which has also a huge population increase, to Mississippi State in Starkville.
Madison is seeing folks from all over the nation calling the thriving community home. The city, and economic growth, is what ultimately attracted California natives and Entrepreneurs, Steve and Suzanne Summers to the area. The couple, who have two small kids, bought a lakefront home sight unseen and moved most of their businesses to the area. "The growth of downtown Madison absolutely grabbed me and sold me on the area, it is one of the best places to do business in," stated Summers. In addition, Summers goes on to say it is one of the most well-maintained cities" she has ever come across in terms of upkeep and cleanliness of roads and buildings. To keep up with the tremendous growth, the county has also been awarded funds to expand its bustling roads and highways.

The downtown is already dotted with stunning historic buildings and the Mayor, who has proudly served Madison since 1981, Mary Hawkins-Butler is currently working with Atlanta based Builder of Greenstone Properties on a massive 100 million dollar build out. Summers states "you just don't see this kind of growth and it's all happening right here." In fact. Madison has seen such a population increase they are creating another postal code in the neighboring town of Gluckstadt which offers a mix of residential housing communities, industrial areas, retail and commercial offerings.
