EXIT Franchise Owner Takes Reins of Local Rotary Club

Following a Family Tradition

Sanford, Maine (Grassroots Newswire) July 9, 2014 - At a recent “club changeover” event, held at the Nasson Community Center, Heather Thomas Matlosz,  who with her parents is one of the Franchise Owners of EXIT Key Real Estate, was sworn in as President of the Rotary Club of Sanford-Springvale for the 2014-2015 year.  Following a family tradition, Heather became president of one of the oldest Rotary Clubs in Maine, having been founded in 1923.

Heather stated,  “It is such an honor to follow in my father’s footsteps in serving as president of the Rotary Club.  But to me, it is more important to focus on what Rotary IS and what Rotary DOES, both locally, as well as globally.”  Heather’s father, Elias Thomas, served as president of this Rotary Club in 1985-1986 and also as District Governor in 2000-2001.  She went on, “Rotary International and EXIT Realty are a great match.  Both organizations are all about ‘giving back to the communities they serve’ and I look forward to leading the Rotary Club as we re-introduce our presence into the Sanford-Springvale Community, and beyond.”

EXIT Realty has its favorite charity – Habitat For Humanity and EXIT agents and brokers not only contribute directly to HFH, but to date more than $2 Million has been pledged to Habitat for Humanity by EXIT Realty Corp. International.

Matlosz concluded, “My emphasis will be to lead Rotarians to support youth projects in the community,  to encourage the expansion of literacy projects for both young and older citizens in the READ ACROSS AMERICA program, as well as to increase the USA Map Project, where Rotarians will help to lay out and paint a map of the United States at various school playgrounds in the area.”

EXIT Franchise Owners Assist Local Rotary Club

Fund-Raising is a way to give back to the communities we serve

Shapleigh, ME (Grassroots Newswire) August 31, 2012 -- Following a family tradition, Heather Thomas Matlosz, part owner of EXIT Key Real Estate in Shapleigh and member of the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club, volunteered for several hours at the Club's booth at the Acton Fair this past weekend.

Working alongside her father, Elias Thomas, Broker-Owner of EXIT Key Real Estate, Heather helped to raise funds for the Rotary Club's many charitable projects, by cooking "World Famous Chicken Livers" at the Fair.

Over the past three decades, Thomas has volunteered in fund-raising as well as hands-on projects, to benefit the local communities, as well as numerous international projects.  Heather stated, "When you grow up in a family that chooses to give back to local communities through involvement in Rotary, it just seems natural to carry on in that tradition." She is also following another tradition of service, currently in line to serve as the Rotary Club's president for the year 2014-2015.

After four days at the Acton Fair, more than three thousand dollars was raised and those funds will be used to assist families who are in need, as well as students in local schools who are given food staples which help them over weekends and other times when school meals are unavailable.  The Rotary Club also works in conjunction with the local Kiwanis Club in providing winter coats, mittens and hats to children in need at Christmas time.

Matlosz went on to say, "It is our hope that the folks we serve may also come to realize that through service to others, everybody benefits."
