Minneapolis Aqua Jester Clown Club to Appear in Parade
Father Hennepin Festival Parade
Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN (Grassroots Newswire) May 26, 2011 --
The Aqua Jesters, a community based volunteer clown club, is celebrating 65 years of service this year. The organization began in 1946 by a group of executives in the Minneapolis area, many of them from the Star Tribune newspaper. It was a great way to entertain the kids during the "new Aquatennial Celebration parades. It was an all men's club until 1976 when women were invited to join. The club is now a mixture of men and women of all ages who enjoy volunteering their time throughout the year entertaining children, young and old alike. "People oftentimes recognize us as the Official Aquatennial Clowns, however, we are a complete separate entity, but do support the efforts of the Aquatennial wholeheartedly," stated Sheldon Berquist of EXIT Realty Nexus, aka Beanie, the clown. Sheldon also serves on the Aqua Jester Board as 2nd Vice.
Appearances include monthly visits to the University Children's Hospital, a variety of "walks" that raise money such as the March of Dimes and Cancer Survivor activities, community parades throughout the year and the annual Courage Center Christmas party put on by the Ad Club.
The Aqua Jesters will be entertaining the crowds at Champlin's Father Hennepin Festival Parade on Friday, June 10. The Parade kickoff is at 6:30 on West River Road.
