Portland Businesses Help Workforce Heroes

Workforce Heroes Afford to Live Where They Serve

Portland, Oregon (Grassroots Newswire) June 9, 2011 --A core group of Portland business people are working together to promote a program called "Homes for Heroes." This national initiative is composed of community-minded businesses that support the workforce heroes that make our communities better and safer places to live. These are our Educators, Firefighters, Peace Officers, Military Personnel and Medical Workers. Homes for Heroes began shortly after the tragedy of 9/11. A real estate agent in Minnesota wanted to "give back" to the heroes that sacrifice everyday for the benefit of a community or neighborhood while finding it difficult to afford to live in that same neighborhood.

This core group all have agreed to sacrifice their commissions or profit margin so that the hero can enjoy a significant savings on the transaction cost of buying or selling a home.
