LOCAL REALTOR ANNOUNCES INTERNATIONAL MISSION

Realtor & Rotarian Returns to Rajasthan

Shapleigh, Maine (Grassroots Newswire) November 28, 2011 -- Elias Thomas, Broker-Owner of EXIT Key Real Estate in Shapleigh, announced today that he will return to India in February 2012 to lead Rotarians and friends of Rotary on a humanitarian mission. This will be Thomas' twelfth trip to India, since first traveling there in January 2001, when he served as District Governor for District 7780.

"For the past ten years, I have had the honor of forming teams of Rotarians, Rotaractors (Rotary's program for young adults) and friends of Rotary and leading them to India for two purposes. First, our teams participate in the National Immunization Days against polio (NIDs) where we go right into the heart of villages and cities to immunize all children under the age of five against the crippling and sometimes fatal disease. Second, ROTARY DREAM TEAMS have also served as common laborers in various service work projects."

Since 2004, these projects have included the construction of washing platforms, the conversion of an abandoned building into a computer training center, the construction of two water conservation dams and the construction of permanent housing for victims of the devastating tsunamis of Southeast Asia in December 2004. Most recently, the Team secured financing from a Matching Grant from The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International for the construction of a toilet block and washing facility to provide sanitary conditions for women and girl children in a remote Muslim village.

This year, people from England, France, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Iceland and the United States will comprise the team of some forty members. Thomas indicated, "There is still time to join ROTARY DREAM TEAM - INDIA 2012, but those interested must move quickly. We will once again immunize children on the day of the NID, February 19, which happens to be my birthday. What a gift! In addition, the Team will help to construct another dam in the arid region of Rajasthan." He concluded, "Being able to leave my business to serve others who are less fortunate is indeed a blessing."
