NYC REALTORS Gather to Brainstorm in the Aftermath of Sandy

New York, NY – Real estate agents and other industry professionals from across New York will be gathering on Monday to discuss ways to move forward in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

The Long Island Chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® is hosting the event entitled, “Empowering REALTORS! How to Weather the Aftermath of Any Storm.”  The event will address the needs of REALTORS in their community and the marketplace in Sandy's aftermath and will feature panelists from FEMA, the home inspection industry, home owner and flood insurance experts and government among others.  Featured on the agenda is Tami Bonnell, CEO of EXIT Realty Corp. International.

“REALTORS need to know two things; one is that they are not alone,  and two, we are here for them,” said Gigi Fernandez, WCR Long Island Chapter President.  “We will encourage them to stay positive. We must remind ourselves of how we have successfully gotten through difficult times in the past. We want our REALTORS and Members to reach out when they need support and in turn offer help to their sellers and buyers when they need it. Women's Council of REALTORS Long Island Chapter invites all REALTORS in our area to join us on Monday to arm themselves with tools, resources and information to become empowered and move their business forward.”

“We have many challenges; everything is different now, from the places we usually sell homes, the routes we drive to meet a buyer or a seller, the listing inventory we had to sell; it's no longer there…many homes were lost,” continued Fernandez.  “Most REALTORS have not yet realized how much we depend on the things we consider to be solid that are no longer there. After the devastation of Sandy, we’re dealing with a paradigm shift in our market and we want REALTORS to feel empowered rather than like victims. We want them to take the valuable tools, information and new resources offered on Monday to move their business forward and to stay focused.”

The event is taking place on Monday, November 19th at the Woodbury Country Club.  For more information, contact 631-965-8256.
