Bitterroot Humane Association Raises Funds

Hamilton, Montana (Grassroots Newswire) February 27, 2018 -- The Bitterroot Humane Association, a private non-profit organization, does not receive any ongoing taxpayer funding of any kind.  They are always on the lookout for a great fundraising idea.

“When someone brought to our attention that, according to the Chinese calendar, it was the Year of the Dog,” explained Mary Gehl, BRHA Secretary, “we just had to act on it!"

Gehl called her long-time friend, Max Coleman, Broker/Owner of EXIT Realty Bitterroot Valley who jumped in with both feet. The BRHA applied and were accepted for the EXIT Realty Corp International matching grant.  Coleman helped with the menu and food preparation.  His wife, Tina, bused tables, stood in as bar relief and lent a hand where ever needed.  EXIT agents showed up to help out and support the BRHA.

“We know the funding restraints the BRHA faces and the great work they do,” said Coleman.  “Several of our agents volunteer regularly.  We feel privileged to have helped put this event together and are excited about its success!”

And successful it was!

“We had absolutely no idea what our profit would be,” said Gehl.  “We had never done this kind of event before.  Including the EXIT grant, we made three times what we originally anticipated!”

Sue Devlin, President of BRHA, agreed.  “We so appreciate EXIT coming along side us.  Their help was invaluable.”

All funds raised from the event will be used for the ongoing rescue and care of all the homeless animals that come thought the doors at Bitterroot Humane Association.
