Lansing Native, Business Owner Raises Much-Needed Funds for Damaged Community Greenhouse

Jonathan Lum, EXIT Realty Home Partners Make Donation for New Roof at Allen Neighborhood Center’s Hunter Park GardenHouse

Lansing, MI (Grassroots Newswire) 12/16/2022 - A donation of $8,050 was made to Allen Neighborhood Center (ANC) on Friday, December 2. $4000 of those funds will be allocated to cover the cost of emergency repairs that were completed after ANC’s urban demonstration farm, the GardenHouse, sustained damage to its roof during a recent storm. 

“I am excited that we were able to help make a difference. The Hunter Park Gardenhouse is an important hub for year round gardening education that serves an important role for ensuring food security and healthy eating in the community,” Lum stated passionately. “I was impressed to see how many individual people contributed so generously and it is great to see the matching dollars go to work in our region.”

The funds were raised by EXIT Realty Home Partners Owner/Broker Jonathan Lum through a combination of personal contributions, social media campaigns, and matching funds provided by the Spirit of EXIT: Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program. 

In addition to his real estate brokerages, Jon is an active placemaker in his hometown of Lansing, and serves as president of Allen Neighborhood Center's Board of Directors.

About the GardenHouse: Operated by Allen Neighborhood Center (ANC) and located within the City of Lansing’s Hunter Park, the GardenHouse serves as a demonstration site for year-round urban garden and farm education, and as a hub where neighbors volunteer to grow food, flowers, and community. The GardenHouse is a sustainably farmed greenhouse that grows produce for ANC’s Veggie Box Community Supported Agriculture program as well as its Breadbasket Food Pantry.
