EXIT Realty Agents Volunteer For A 12 Hour Event At The Eastside Safeway In Bend To Help Feed The Hungry And Struggling

Agents volunteer to make a difference for those in need all over Central Oregon

Bend, Oregon (Grassroots Newswire) June 6, 2017
-- “It was one of the most satisfying events we have ever done at EXIT Realty Bend,” said Jim Mazziotti, the principal managing broker and franchise owner of EXIT Realty Bend.

“At the beginning of the year when setting our goals, I asked the 26 professional real estate agents what single event might they choose that would have a positive impact on our Central Oregon community and to them. Time and time again I heard their concern for those in need, namely the hungry. This was an easy choice, “ said Mazziotti

Mazziotti looked and decided to partner with THE GIVING PLATE, a food relief and outreach ministry, that in 2016 alone, distributed nearly 500,000 pounds of food to more than 6600 families. Since 2010 they have delivered 3 million pounds in total!  So, Mazziotti contacted founders, Gary and Debra Kelso, and asked if they might conduct the one-day event to benefit their organizations goals.  “Debra and I were elated to be part of this event,” said David Kelso.

So on Saturday, June 3rd, the real estate professionals from EXIT gathered along with their famous EXITized Smart Car, known around Central Oregon as “SMARTIE,” for their “STUFF SMARTIE” event. “We owe a great deal of thanks to the Eastside Bend Safeway store director, Patrick Laughlin, and his employees for granting us permission to spend 12 hours at the entrances of their beautiful store. They allowed for us to set up “SMARTIE” smack-dab in front of their store and greet incoming shoppers with our request for their consideration of adding just one nonperishable item to their grocery list in order to, by days end, have a car full of groceries to deliver to The Giving Plate, “ Mazziotti said.

Twelve hours after setting up and hoping to fill the car, EXIT agents and customers shopping at Safeway witnessed nearly 1200 pounds of food that not only filled the interior of “Smartie,” but additionally covered the car, and surrounded the car with hundreds of food items!

“When Gary came with his truck to pick up what we had collected I think we both about broke out in tears,” said Mazziotti.  “Once again the people of Central Oregon demonstrated their generosity and love for their neighbors and the real estate agents at EXIT showed that our goal is to do much more than to just assist buyers and sellers of real estate. I guess that is why so many of us love Bend and all of Central Oregon,” he concluded For more information about EXIT REALTY BEND, please call 541-480-8835.
