Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Canada

Tuesday, June 27, 2017 Mississauga, ON – EXIT Realty Corp. International will be part of Habitat for Humanity Canada’s biggest build project ever. Habitat for Humanity’s 34th Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project will take place in every province and territory across Canada with a goal to collectively build 150 homes to mark Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation. Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn will be visiting Canada from July 9-14, 2017, focusing their efforts in Edmonton, Alberta, and in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  EXIT Realty Agents, Brokers and headquarters personnel will be swinging hammers in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario and Alberta.

Habitat Canada has a long history of creating affordable housing opportunities in the country. People living in Habitat homes not only help to build their own houses, they also pay affordable mortgages. Habitat’s innovative approach helps working families on a new path to better, affordable living conditions that lead to improved health and stronger childhood development, as well as a decrease in reliance on food banks.

A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is pledged to its non-profit organization of choice, and to-date $3 million dollars has been pledged to Habitat for Humanity.  EXIT Realty’s affiliation with the non-profit began in 2004 when the company sponsored its first Habitat for Humanity home build in West Palm Beach, Florida. Since then they have sponsored 18 additional home builds in Canada and the US, have participated in a community revitalization project and the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project in the U.S.  In 2016, the EXIT & Habitat: Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Program was launched.  Through this initiative, the company’s involvement with Habitat for Humanity can potentially reach every community where an EXIT office exists. EXIT Associates anywhere in North America can work in conjunction with their local Habitat for Humanity office to raise funds for a specific project and submit a proposal to EXIT Realty Corp. International for those funds to be matched dollar-for-dollar from EXIT Realty’s pledged pool of funds to Habitat for Humanity International.

Since 1984, President and Mrs. Carter have traveled around the world with Habitat to build and improve homes. Their time and effort helps to raise awareness of the critical need for affordable home ownership around the world. EXIT Realty Corp. International Helps Sponsor Habitat for Humanity’s 30th Annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project

Woburn, MA – EXIT Realty Corp. International is sponsoring Habitat for Humanity International’s 30th annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project, October 6-12. Throughout the week, President and Mrs. Carter will join an estimated 3,000 volunteers to build, renovate or repair homes in Oakland and San Jose, Calif.; Denver; New York City; and Union Beach, N.J.

For 30 years, the Carters have partnered with Habitat for Humanity and given a week of their time annually to help build homes and raise awareness of the importance the role of decent housing plays in breaking the cycle of poverty.

Corporate leadership and area EXIT Realty brokers will be on hand in Oakland, Denver and New York City to swing hammers and build alongside Habitat partner families to help to make the dream of home ownership come true.

In addition to supporting Habitat’s Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project, a portion of every transaction fee collected by EXIT Realty Corp. International is dedicated to its charity of choice, and to-date, more than $2 Million has been pledged to local Habitat for Humanity affiliates.

“EXIT Realty has sponsored and participated in 19 home builds across the U.S. and Canada (the majority of which have benefitted single mothers and their families) and has distributed grants to several local Habitat affiliates for use in grassroots projects in the communities we serve,” said Bonnell.

This year’s Carter Work Project also coincides with Habitat’s observance of World Habitat Day. Held on the first Monday of every October, the U.N.-designated World Habitat Day calls attention to the need for adequate housing for everyone by raising awareness and mobilizing people to take action in response to the need of better shelter around the world.

The first Carter Work Project took place in New York City, where the Carters and volunteers helped renovate a six-story apartment building. Since then, Carter Work Projects have been held across the United States and in Mexico, Canada, Hungary, South Africa, South Korea, India, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, China, Laos, Vietnam and the past two years in Haiti.
